In January we resolve to declutter. We get rid of outdated canned goods and unworn clothes, but we keep our books. Some for rereading, some for reference, some for sentiment. And some because we think we should read them. Soon. These Guilt Piles weigh down our shelves and our consciences.
Join us on January 14 for a discussion of books we keep meaning to read, but don’t. Bring examples if you like. Why do you think you ought to read this book? Why would you rather read something else first? Why did you absolutely love the books in your neighbor’s Guilt Pile? Empty your tote bag of things you don’t really want to read, and fill it with replacements that look like more fun.
This event is co-sponsored by the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library and A Community Together, a social network serving older neighbors in South Kingstown and Narragansett as we age in place: https://www.acommunitytogethervillage.org/.
